by David Baker
This truly is a fantastic, comprehensive book. While there is not much technical depth, it is a truly comprehensive account of the development of rocketry, from the ancient Chinese and gun powder, until a quarter of the way into the development of the Shuttle (it was published in 1978). A fantastic book filled with really interesting development. Don't be fooled by the cover, it doesn't just concentrate on the space program--it covers every sort of rocket (ICBMs, sounding rockets, etc.). (
